Balayage....
Its a method of hilighting the hair that is regaining popularity!
I first learned of it and did it in the 1970's. But honestly its perfect for today's styles..and Budgets!!!

The word is French and means to sweep up!
It started in the 1970s but really was popular in the 1990s.
Its great because its a natural sun bleached look..It got its name because the color is hand painted on in a sweeping motion., On very dark hair I still use foil but its randomly placed look and feel makes it truly balayage! I just get that saturation that I'm looking for.
It usually is very thin and subtle at the root and heavy and bright at the tips. This makes for a graceful outgrowing and helps the budget conscious client greatly..
Its awesome on long hair to get that magazine fresh look. I am quite experienced in this and you want someone like me to perform it because of creativity and a steady hand., also if someone isn't fast then the timing on the color is way off!
I also hide these roots in a peek a boo fashion so there's little to no maintenance.
Price varies greatly for balayage hilites from salon to salon...sometimes a per color application to a per hour charge. I usually charge 75 -95 depending on placement. As low as 45 for around the face . It is also a great way to grow out of a dark color without a huge ordeal of color remover or bleaching. I just break up that darkness with some natural looking lights and then repeat month after month to go lighter if desired.
This can be done with a honey color to platinum on lighter shades or copper to mahogany on darker shades...it's a great change of pace!!
The look screams summer sun..and of course that usually screams....damage!!! but no...less hilighting is more in this case. Leaving more dark makes these highlites have a punch and there's less hair in foil getting damaged and heated. Its a great alternative for fragile hair and gives you that light reflective quality that makes you shine!!!
Another great thing is to get an all over glosser to make hair sealed and shiny.
I love the look of hair with deep shine.
Another thought for gray coverage clients that usually get color and hilights..get the roots done in between balayage visits. We can even color roots around hairline and partline during a haircut appointment to save time and money in between . Its a thought! $$$$$$$$
